It’s been a bit since we updated our progress. Things continue to move along, and the views just keep getting better the higher we go!
So far the best part of being so hands on with the construction, is being able to make those little tweaks that aren’t found in the drawing stage. Little adjustments to align things just right all the way to deciding to remove walls to keep a more open floor plan. Here are two examples:
Decided the bathroom was big enough for 2 sinks. Seems like a good idea for those mornings when 2 kids need to brush their teeth as they rush out the door! I’m also playing around with the design of the shower.
As we walked around the completely open upstairs, Robyn said, “Let’s just not have walls!” As nice as that sounds….we all need a little privacy! But, for a room like the Office upstairs, that was a perfect opportunity to open up the upstairs. The hallway was feeling dark and cramped. Now we have access to daylight and views, as well as a more public feel to get out onto the roof of the garage. We’re are also thinking about doing a full wall transom above the laundry room, to bring in even more light to the upstairs hall.
Isabel looking out the future office window. Love how big these are!
Robyn showing us how it’s done with a nail gun. Building a 2nd floor interior partition
And the kids are loving the play time while we slave away!
And here are just a few more progress shots.
We’ve finished all of the exterior walls except a small portion where the stairs go up. We’ve started building some interior partitions – and are working to schedule a crane to come give us a hand to lift the roof trusses and plywood decking in place. Can’t wait to have this place weathered in! Hopefully before it snows!
